c.1947 Barclay, No. 510 One Horse Open Sleigh in Original Box

This 4pc. cast metal set looks like it was never played with. It includes a black horse, a seated man, seated woman, and sleigh. It comes with its original green and red illustrated box. Overall, the sleigh and contents grade near mint+ to mint. The box is VG+ to excellent.

The horse is fitted with a metal clip connected using wrap around red plastic binding. Over time it shrank and left some residue, but it still firmly connects the clip. The clip hitches to the front of the dark green sleigh. And the man and woman sit realistically on the single bench seat.

This was a popular set especially around Christmas time. Typically it would’ve been displayed underneath the tree set onto a “snowy” cotton base.  Over the years most of these sets became well used.

The box shows the four pieces assembled. Typically it wouldn’t last very long because of the weight of the figures. A later version was available in a plastic blister pack. It differed from the early set with a mint green sleigh and a string harness, rather than metal clip, around the horse.

Size: Horse 3”. Sleigh 3½”. Man 2¼”. Woman 2⅛”.
